The Nigerian Air Badminton Team soared to new heights at the exhilarating Africa Air Badminton Championship held in Ghana in 2025! They kicked off the tournament with an impressive performance, dominating the group stage by defeating Burkina Faso (60-50), Ivory Coast (60-42), and Equatorial Guinea (60-42). In a thrilling semi-final clash, they showcased their resilience and skill, narrowly edging past the Benin Republic with a heart-stopping victory of 60-59. Although they fought valiantly in the finals against Egypt, ultimately falling short by just 14 points, the team’s remarkable journey left fans on the edge of their seats and their spirits soaring high!
The team won a total of two (2) silver medals in the Team Relay and Women’s Triple and four (4) bronze medals in the individual events, bringing their total to six medals and an overall third position in the championship.
The Silver Medal in the team relay event secured them a spot in the World Cup scheduled for December 2025. The Badminton Federation of Nigeria commends the team’s achievements and looks forward to the World Cup in the UAE.
