Team Nigeria Badminton continued their remarkable feet in far away Morocco at the 2019 African Games where they have now made four out of five possibles final slots in the individual event.
Lots of hopes were raised for Nigeria breakout youngster, Sofiat Obanishola after she sensationally made the semi finals of the African games in what is her debut appearance but her momentum was halted on Wednesday night by South Africa’s Johanita Scholtz in a frenetic three set game 18-21 21-9 21-12.
Africa’s number one male player, Anuoluwapo Opeyori had to see off the tough challenge from the impressive Kalombo Mulenga of Zambia in the men’s category while Godwin Olofua who is Nigeria number 2 player was stopped by former Africa number one, Julien Paul in the second men’s semi final match.
Africa’s top seed, Dorcas Adesokan saw off an easy Doha Hany of Egypt in straight sets 21-14, 21-11 to make the women’s singles final.
Finals get off from 10am Thursday morning.
